We will be starting a series of twitter conversation sessions on the @Afro_Mum twitter handle every month starting from this coming Wednesday 30th September from 2-5pm EAT. We will be focusing on the topic of Contraceptives and whose responsibility it should be to use them.

#Afrotalks is the name of our monthly social media conversations taking place every last Wednesday of the month from 2pm – 5pm on pertinent topics ranging from parenting, relationships, health, sex, intimacy and gender among others with an aim of airing our views based on our social, economic & cultural experiences as individual, couples and as parents.

Our Guest Expert – Dr. Charles Ochieng on Vasectomy
We shall be joined by Dr. Charles Ochieng, a medical practitioner who advocates for and carries out vasectomy  procedures. He is also the founder of WISPIVA Kenya.

Winam Safe Parenthood Initiative (WISPIVAS) started as a post vasectomy club in Kenya where men converged to share their experiences on vasectomy and encourage other men whose families are complete to do the same. Women too joined the group , most of them were so happy that their husbands had taken up personal responsibility in family planning through vasectomy. After the gentle touch vasectomy,a man is like the seedless oranges,“only sweet juices without  seeds”.
Dr. Ochieng will be joining us from 2.3opm on Wednesday to demystify vasectomy as one of the viable family planning methods, the societal myths around this procedure and what his organisation is doing to change this.

If you have any questions on this as well as other family planning methods, We are inviting you on Wednesday 30th September from 2-5pm EAT to give your thoughts on this very pertinent and sometimes controversial subject.
