The musical of the widely acclaimed and hugely popular animated television series, Tinga Tinga premiered in Nairobi yesterday 24th March, 2016 at The Elephant, 3 Kanjata Rd, Lavington.

Written by Claudia Lloyd, produced by Sheba Hirst, music by Eric Wainaina and choreographed by Mkamzee Mwatela—the show is a gloriously interactive and raucus stage musical.

The musical will take its audience on a wonderful theatrical journey where they will sing with the Dawn Chorus, interact with their favourite characters from the TV series, help Giraffe get out of sticky situation and delight in seeing how Chameleon transforms from the greyest of grey things into an explosive Afro-fusion Master of Colour. Everyone will sing, dance, laugh and cry… but most of all they will all have a TingaTingaTastic Time

Where? At the Elephant, located at No3, Kanjata Road, next to Loreto Msongari Off James Gichuru Road.
When? Shows will run on Shows will run from from 24th  March to April 17th 2016. Times are at 3.00pm and 6.00pm on every show day.
How Much? KES 1,000

PS. We advise you to call the organisers first in advance to confirm the  exact dates & shows times. I took my girls there for the Easter Monday show only to be turned away by a watchman at the gate. 

About the Musical

Based on the animation, the musical has enlisted the talent of some of Kenya’s top-notch actors and a notable production crew. The cast includes celebrated media personality and actor, John-Sibi Okumu, acclaimed singers Iddi Achieng’ & Phy (winner Maisha Superstar Season I), actor Elsaphan Njora and musical icon Eric Wainaina, among others. Studio Propolis, the amazing design duo alongside Kiko Romeo’s prodigious Ann McCreath have brought the well-loved characters to life in an explosion of carnival colours and design.
