AkiraChix will be hosting the inaugural Pan African Women in technology conference in Nairobi on the 1st of November 2014 at the Panari Sky Hotel in Nairobi. The overall theme of this event is to celebrate women in computing in Africa.

The aim of this event is to connect women from all walks of life, and provide a platform for them to discuss and tackle challenges facing women in the tech industry, as well as allow them to showcase interesting work they are involved in currently.
Activities of the day will include:-

    • Keynote presentations
    • Practical training and Break out sessions around the following themes
    • Programming
    • Design
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Securing online spaces for Women
    • Technology for change
    • Career Development
    • Hardware
    • Two panel discussions featuring women in technology

Akirachix is an organisation that inspires, mentors students and young women in technology, developing them into powerful trail blazers in technology. Located at the Bishop Magua Center in Nairobi just a few floors away from 2 of the most known Tech community hubs in Kenya, Akirachix now has over 200 members.

They hope to change the ratio of women in Technology in Africa which is at only 15%.
